Avnet Technology Solutions Selected As New Converged Infrastructure Distributor for Nutanix in Australia

SYDNEY, 5 September 2014 - Avnet Technology Solutions, the global IT solutions distribution leader and an operating group of
Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), today announced that it has signed a distribution agreement with Nutanix, the worldwide market leader in web-scale converged infrastructure. Under this agreement, Avnet will provide its channel partners in Australia with the Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform, which partners can use to design and develop web-scale converged compute and storage infrastructure for virtualised data centres.

“Avnet is well-versed in making complex data centre solutions a reality for our partners,” says Darren Adams, vice president and general manager, Avnet Technology Solutions, Australia and New Zealand. “By leveraging the Nutanix platform we can create solutions that are web-scale, agile, affordable and effortless to deploy and manage, enabling partners to rapidly grow their sales and increase operating speed.”

Avnet’s existing relationship with leading suppliers such as VMware and Citrix allows them to perform as a single-source distributor for developing and deploying cost-effective data centre solutions in which customers only purchase what they require, rather than unnecessary excess capacity. The Nutanix web-scale architecture based Virtual Computing Platform will complement this portfolio by enabling partners to offer a fully converged infrastructure solution that consolidates the server and storage tiers into a single, integrated appliance. With this platform, end customers will be able to quickly deploy and scale data centre infrastructure, reduce the cost and complexity of storage, and integrate the Nutanix platform with legacy components to maximise existing IT investments.

“Nutanix is very pleased to appoint Avnet Technology Solutions in Australia, a global solutions distributor for enterprise server, storage, software and services,” says Wayne Neich, managing director, Nutanix, Australia and New Zealand. “The Nutanix award-winning software defined storage solution works with all hypervisors from VMware and Hyper-V from Microsoft. Avnet’s relationship with leading suppliers like Citrix will help us capitalise on our Citrix Validated Systems certified status to bring Nutanix web-scale solutions to enterprise customers.”

Partners can also leverage the Nutanix platform to deploy cloud computing capabilities, helping their customers move their businesses to the cloud. Through Avnet Cloud Services, partners can take advantage of proven technical expertise to quickly and easily deliver public, private or hybrid cloud solutions that best suit customer requirements.
